“Testimonio” is used in Latin America to designate a narrative and militant writing modality, mostly employed in moments of social, political, or economic crisis, to portray the life of one or more witnesses or to forge their memory. A testimony can be mediated but it always comes from persons/witnesses belonging to a minority or socially vulnerable group. It can be a way for them to demand social justice, either an attempt to undermine the authority that marginalizes and persecutes their population or seeks to make them disappear.
