As a young man, Chey Sopheara wanted to become a doctor. The rise of the Khmer Rouge to power put a brutal end to his dream. He survived the Pol Pot regime. When he returned to Phnom Penh, he started working in Tuol Sleng, which happened to be his former high school. He worked there for thirty years, mostly as the museum’s director, dedicating his life to remembering.

Key words: Tuol Sleng, museum, genocide, history, crime.
